Let’s begin with the steps first…..Read on
Step 1: Moisturize your skin-
Before applying the makeup, it is always suggested to moisturize your face skin. Use a good quality moisturizer to nourish your skin. Doing this will make it easy for you to apply makeup. Also moisturizing helps in maintain the makeup for a longer time.
Step 2: Apply a Base-
Begin with the natural base before applying a multitude of products to your face. Use a lightweight, sheer foundation as well as a concealer to hide any blemishes. Make sure that you use branded products that go well with your skin texture to avoid any kind of skin allergy. Some of my favorite choices of foundation for you are L'Oreal Paris True Match Mineral Powder Foundation, MAC Studio Fix Powder plus Foundation Compact and Lakme Nine to Five Flawless Make up Foundation.
Now contour your features as you normally would. Use a light concealer to map out the areas that you want to highlight and blend.
Step3: Put Focus on Cheekbones-
To highlight your cheekbones start defining them using a brush. Put some highlighter on your cheekbones and brush it up properly. Don’t use too much of highlighter and avoid brushing it down to your chin.
Step 4: Highlight Your Facial Features-
If you are done with above 3 steps, then it’s time to take your makeup to the next level. Of course I am talking about Highlighting. How about highlighting your facial features?
The most common places that require highlighting are the top of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, your cupid’s bow and your brow bone. Start with scooping up a little of the product using your index finger. Then, pat the product along the areas which you desire to highlight. Let me tell you what those facial features are that you need to highlight! Check it out….
Give your nose a definition with the help of highlighter. Run your highlighter along the inner corner of the brow and slowly brush downwards along the sides of your nose. To top it off, put some highlighter on your nose tip.
If you want your eyes to pop out, apply a hint of highlighter on your under-eye area to make your eyes look brighter no matter how tired you are.
Who doesn’t want a sharp edgy jaw line? Oh I know you too want it just like me! Begin by applying a darker tint of foundation below the jaw, along the jawline (where the jaw meets the neck). Then, start blending the foundation using a clean brush to avoid creating a line.
Step 5: Blend It Perfectly-
Blending is very necessary if you want a natural shiny look. Use a flat top dense brush to blend in the two shades together. This step result in two things, one is it makes your facial features look sharper; while second is that it makes your skin look polished and flawless. You can also use your fingertips to blend your makeup properly.
Now that I am done with the steps to apply highlighter perfectly, I’ll tell you how to apply various forms of Highlighter!
How to Use Highlighter Powder?
If you’re looking to add a subtle glow to your every day look, then here is the answer. Pressed powder highlighter is an excellent choice to accentuate your features. Once you have applied your foundation, you can use a brush to dust a little highlighter onto your cheekbones, chin, nose and forehead. Start off lightly and slowly build up the product through illuminating layers. Powder highlighter is also ideal when you’re going for a barely-there makeup look. Its soft texture will contribute to an all-around fresh face.
How to Use Highlighter Stick?
Go for a highlighter stick when you need a quick touch-up on the go. It is just perfect option for quick highlighting. After completing your foundation and contouring rituals, use a little translucent powder to settle the product. Doing so will also help the cream-based illuminator grab better hold on your skin. Mark the facial areas you would like to feature with the stick, and then blend the formula into your skin with a soft brush or with your fingertips.
How to Use Cream Highlighter?
Want to look all glam up? Go for a cream highlighter as it contains more pigment than other highlighting products, which makes it perfect for bolder accents. However, be careful not to apply too much as it will look overly drastic and extremely unnatural. With wet highlighters like this, you will want to try and use your fingers or a blending sponge to layer the product gradually until the desired luminosity is achieved. It is also great to use it in addition to add a little bit of extra glow. *wink*
